Managed by the Community Arts Network of South Australia (CAN SA), ccd.net carries information, projects and events listings, debate forums and other resources for those employed in or interested in Community Cultural Development.
ccd.net is an integrated Site Control database driven site, enabling the team at CAN SA to update and edit the information on the site as well as manage features such as the forum. As with our other database driven sites, the management of the site is all done via a browser based editing tool. This administration also allows for the different needs of the sites users. Members can be authorised at different levels, from using the forum and receiving updates, to posting news, to adding or editing specific projects to complete site management. A sophisticated system keeps track of the permissions, and each member needs a single password to allow access to his or her authorised administration areas.
The site was designed to accommodate a changing gallery of work, complementing rather than competing with the varied content and messages in the site. The art images integrated into the design of the site are randomly selected from a changing library of pictures, presenting the visitor with a fresh and dynamic image every time they visit. The navigation is easy to follow, using DHTML pop-ups and rollovers to access the links. Although the site is complex, you always know where you are, and you can move anywhere easily within one or two clicks.
Extra features on the site include a forum, and the ability for members to publish projects, new forum topics and comment.
The site encourages debate and discussion, involving the membership and promoting a sense of ownership in the organisation and activities.
